The Seventh Day?
From the window I can see her.
She looks like she did yesterday.
Same Clothes.
Same Hair.
But today her face is calm, dead calm.
All their faces are dead calm until one of us makes a noise.
The noise wakes them and then it starts.
Their heads jerk to the right three times rapidly as they stand in the most awkward way.
That's when we run.
That's when we hide.
That's how we stay alive until The Seventh Day!
Silence is survival!
The Seventh Day The Seventh Day 1 The Seventh Day Series eBook Tara Brown
The novel begins with Lou, a normal teenager. We start on the way to school. Lou is upset with her mother who is emotionally absent and pays little attention to either of her children. So Lou has to step up and watch out for her little sister. When they arrive at school a man is acting odd, standing in front of the elementary school. Just as her little sister, Joey opens the car door to get out, and the man moves in to attack. Lou pulls her sister away and slams the door shut just as his bloody hand hits the window.Lou’s father, who is a military scientist, calls and tells Lou to prepare for the apocalypse since her mother isn’t able to- she’s kind of lost it since the incident at the elementary school. She needs to get supplies from the grocery store and board the house shut. Things go crazy pretty damn quickly. Lou picks up a couple little girls- her sisters friends who would otherwise be home alone. They see on the news that zombie like people have taken over the cities and when Lou looks out the window, she sees it’s hit her town too.
As things get worse, Lou no longer feels safe keeping herself and the girls in the house, so they pack up and drive out to the mountains to a cabin her family owns. There they should be relatively safe due to the lack of population.
I don’t want to give away much more of the plot because you will really just want to read this one! It keeps you on edge the entire time and is very fast moving. I was a little concerned about how well an apocalypse story would tell if it only took place over seven days. But I was silly to doubt Tara Brown’s ability because she did an amazing job with this! I loved it.
Lou is great because she’s a regular girl. She’s not some badass, emotionless teenager, she is very much a normal teenage girl. She is terrified and hates that she has to be the strong one because she feels weak, but she forces herself to be strong for her sister and for everyone else who needs her to be. Her reaction to everything going on seemed very believable and I really appreciated that. It seems so often teenagers are written without the vulnerability and still very child-like nature of teenagers but this was done perfectly. Don’t get me wrong, I love my badass heroines, but Lou was unique and real and not so different from myself so I really loved her.
Kyle. From the Die Hard references to WOW, I really enjoyed Kyle’s character. He was just cocky enough to seem confident and appealing. He also admitted to fear though, something that a lot of heroes don’t do, so I liked that he was able to confess that he wasn’t fearless. Overall he’s one of the most charming heroes ever! You will not be disappointed! I definitely found a new book boyfriend. :]
The supporting cast was all great too. There were a lot of characters to introduce and get to know very quickly, but I felt like it was handled very well. I didn’t feel like any character was left without a personality of their own that made them stand out. I loved the sisters!
This is one to read. While it has similarities to her other series, Born, it’s very much a unique story and very fun to read. This is easily one of my favorite Tara Brown books. She does such a great job writing apocalypse/dystopian stories but not making them too dark.

The Seventh Day The Seventh Day 1 The Seventh Day Series eBook Tara Brown Reviews
I haven't read or reviewed a good book in a long time. It seemed all I was finding was "dogs". I read this and was hooked from the beginning. It is a YA novel, which I really avoid but, I gave this a chance.
I truly loved our heroine, Lou. She was your typical teenager but not annoyingly so. Her relationship with her mother was complex and spot on. The "zombies" enter and of course nothing is ever the same. The take on these zombies was unique and baffling. I'll leave it at that since others have summarized the story quite well.
Four stars -- here's why (two reasons) I thought the author introduced too many more kids/teens. I was getting names mixed up and knew virtually nothing about them. There was a weird coincidence that came up and it just didn't ring true to me. I'm not sure why the absence of adults..... if the apocalypse took them all I would get it but that's not the case.
One instance in the book brought me to tears. From that point forward the story plunged for me. This could (maybe should) have been a stand alone book. Toward the end, I would read a chapter and think..... what a great way to end the book. Turn the page, there's another chapter. I thought THAT chapter ended the book too -- in a good way. Not a Pollyanna ending either. The book continued a little more and this weird conspiracy pops up. I thought it was a useless plot twist at the very end. I was annoyed!
To sum it up -- why was this done? I can only assume to churn out more books. Ya know..... I wouldn't even mind if it was a GOOD twist.... but it's not. Will I read the 2nd book? No. The conspiracy is just that bad. My rating leans more toward 3.5 stars.
Basic Teen Zombie Read Checklist
X Dad who is a survivalist or in gov
X Teen becomes caregiver to child
X Love interest finds teen
X Teen can use weapon well
X No one questions teen authority
X Even if others get raped, teen will not
X Love trio
X Hard older man
Followed the basic format. Glossed over the most unpleasant aspects, but strongly hinted at things beyond. Not a bad read, but not groundbreaking. Lou was an interesting narrator, although not dynamic enough. Some relationships seemed forced and extremely rushed/shallow.
However, the second book going into the why nano-zombies is tempting to try.
I first was introduced to this book as a teaser after reading Tara Brown's 'Imaginations' (which I also loved) and I remember thinking that I need to read this one next. Tara Brown messaged me back on Facebook asking if I had read her book 'Born' and as of now I have at least started 'Born'. I started reading it but I just had to stop because I NEEDED to find this book and read it first. I'm so glad I did!
This book really is a life changer in so many ways. It's scary because absolutely everything in it could really happen. It makes you FEEL the helplessness of watching the world crumble and trying to survive and save the ones you can save. It makes you FEEL the horrible hope that life brings you when everything else crumbles and the new reality of your life comes into full focus. And it makes you FEEL the horror that you never realized how changed you really are and what it really means. Read this book! Do it! The writing is, as always, amazing. It is finely edited and arranged carefully to bring out the story as best as possible.
I was already a fan of hers before I read this book but now, I have a feeling this I will be a lifetime fan, in the best way. Tara Brown, if you're reading this, let me know if you ever need a hand or honest feedback. I have a family of five and a tough love Mom, but I am serious when it comes to books because they are my second love in this world besides my family.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed reading it!
