Two lonely men. One secret affair. Irresistible passion that will push them both to the breaking point, and beyond. A knife attack left ex-Jamaican Posse member Vincent Williams scarred and also made him re-evaluate his life. He’s out of the gang and also the closet but lonely, yet to meet a man who’s interested in more than a one-and-done, a brief sexual encounter. Because of his career as a police officer, Sergeant Kyle Pictou is afraid of coming out. Normally he doesn’t get involved with anyone close to home, but something about Vincent compels him to take a chance. It’s just sex, after all. Yet, as desire evolves into friendship and seemingly boundless passion, it’s Kyle who’s left wanting more—though he knows he can’t have it.

FourStars
This book is manly. I’ve been searching for a word to describe it. Masculine men living adult lives, full of thoughtfulness, rich histories, and complicated situations. And hard muscles. The sex, plentiful but not overwhelming in this erotic novel, reflects this well.

This book is multicultural. Appropriately so, for once. Black Jamacian Vincent Williams and First Nations Canadian Kyle Pictou are fully realized characters, rooted in their sometimes clashing cultures, as well as deeply Canadian. This book should serve as a model for how to write diversity. It’s neither pandering nor stereotypical.

This book is an excellent length. I only bring it up because I harp on other books for being too long, and for not showing an editor’s touch. This book is stylish and enjoyable to read. Anya Richards, with her 22 books, and my second review, knows what she’s doing. Here’s hoping she’ll keep writing men for us.

Three Strikes 9781505901429 Anya Richards Books Reviews

Overall rating **** Stars
I am not one to read m/m romance, but this book was very interesting. I am glad I sogned up for this blog tour. It was really well written and I love the way this author writes. Three strikes had great characters, two strong males. Vincent and Kyle. I love how different they were, and I love the chemistry they had also. The storyline was solid and different from anything I have read. I didn’t want the book to end and I hope Anya writes more. I will definitely be reading more from this fantastic author!
Amazingly Hot & Loving Story. I read this story within a bound set called "Brought to his knees". I loved it enough to spend the time researching the name of the story & the author within this group, and then writing a review. There is always room for warmth & Love no matter your preferences. I love the heat behind true feelings, and this is what we received in this book. I found great enjoyment in this story & appreciate the talent this writer has in giving us her story. Thank you.
This book is about two men who have reached a point in their lives where they seek something more than a romp in the hay. The past, their backgrounds, and their current situations are more than enough to stack against them.

The story and characters are definitely worth reading about. You are pulled in by their imperfections and each man’s growth in the relationship. There were a few times I felt a little disconnect, but nothing that would make the story less of what it was. Enjoyable.

Is the passion and wanting more enough? Open your mind because you couldn't get more diverse than an ex-Jamaican gang member and a Canadian police officer. Jump in and watch Vincent and Kyle’s story come to life.

Three Strikes by Anya Richards has the premise of a great story. Two lonely men who come from very different worlds having a relationship. They don’t expect it to go anywhere but it soon does. The characters are both strong and very male which I loved. Kyle is a tough as nails cop, who loves with all his heart. Vincent has turned his life around and finally is on the right track he thinks he isn’t ready for love but he needs it more than even he knows.
The one drawback I had in reading this book, was the style of writing. I liked books that have each character’s point of view and told in their POV, I just didn’t like the way it felt like past tense when they were doing it. That drew me out of the moment. I think if the author had made me feel I was in the moment with the characters verse seeing it from afar I would have been more connected.
Over all this is a pretty good story, I would definitely pick up this author again.

Four Twinkling Stars
I think that Anya Richards did a really amazing job with character development in this novel. I felt like I truly got where both Kyle and Vincent came from. As characters they totally made sense and were very real. I'm trying really hard to come up with a way to explain specific spots in the story that have stuck with me without revealing where the story goes. I hate spoilers... and as this story progressed each detail of Kyle and Vincent coming together to learn about each other, and to learn about themselves, really did an amazing job of naturally moving along the story. Each encounter they had seemed meaningful in opening their eyes to something big (no pun intended there, truly... but you can take it any way you like, heh). Each step in the story really built who they were. I guess what I'm saying is that all of the memorable parts that I'd give as an example as to why I fell in love with these guys (separately and together) would be "spoilers". So just... read it.

The "three strikes" still leaves me with some questions... although it's probably just me. I get the whole idea of "moving past the strikes against you" and the idea of three strikes you're out. I understood in the part of the book where Kyle in the past he had talked to Vincent about strikes against him. I just was never clear about what the "strikes" were. And they applied to both Kyle and Vincent in my mind... but again... in Kyle's mind, and in Vincent's mind, what did they consider the strikes against them? And because I'm obsessive I can't help but still wonder WHAT ARE THE THREE STRIKES?!?!? I could even see myself going back and re-reading just to clarify for myself. And it's only because it's the title. It wouldn't have stuck with me otherwise.

Oh... and let me just say... when Kyle talks to his mom on the phone... totally choked up.

Oh... and the sex scenes.... WOW.

And I think the cover is perfection for the character descriptions. )
